TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The College of Southern Idaho men’s basketball team’s latest recruit is a guard out of Utah with a great high school resume.
Carter Davis, a native of Smithfield, UT, has committed to play basketball at CSI for the upcoming season.
Davis arrives at CSI after the conclusion of his two-year mission in Warsaw, Poland.
Standing at six-foot-six, Davis is a guard/forward that plays a three-and-D playstyle, suffocating his opponents on defense, then hitting shots on the other end of the floor.
Before his mission, Davis said his college decision was up in the air, but after talking with CSI head men’s basketball coach, Jeff Reinert, he knew it was where he wanted to be.
“Something that made me want to be there was just the camaraderie,” Davis said. “The team itself and how well they fit together.”
During his time at Skyview High School, Davis racked up the accolades including 2023 Utah 4A State Champion and State Tournament MVP, First Team 4A All-State, First Team All-Region and Region Defensive Player of the Year.
He also earned Region three-point leader, Utah 4A steals leader, and was a two-time region champion and team captain with Skyview.
During his senior year, Davis averaged 14 points and three assists per game on the offensive side and three rebounds, 2.2 steals and 0.8 blocks per game on the defensive end of the floor.
Davis gave fans an insight of what they can expect from him when he hits the court this season.
“Somebody who is going to lead by example, I’m never going to ask more of people than I’m not doing myself,” Davis said. “I play with a lot of passion and a lot of care and love for the game.”
At his size, Davis offers a unique skill set of being able to efficiently score from beyond the arc while shutting down the opponent’s best player. He makes a great defensive addition to a forward heavy CSI recruiting class.
