The logistics and shipping group A.P. Moller – Maersk has reached a definitive agreement for the sale of its training subsidiary, Maersk Training, as well as the subsidiary Maersk H2S Safety Services, to the private equity firm Open Gate Capital, an entity specializing in corporate and industrial segregation operations. The transaction is currently subject to the usual closing conditions for this type of commercial agreements and to the obtaining of the corresponding approvals from the competent regulatory authorities, with the process expected to formally conclude during the year 2026.

The operation reflects the continued focus of the Maersk group on the development of its main strategic brands within the global transportation and logistics sector. The divestment acknowledges the consolidated commercial position that both Maersk Training and Maersk H2S Safety Services have established in their respective areas of operation. Under the ownership structure of Open Gate Capital, the business unit will maintain its operations with a strategic focus on training solutions, gas detection, workplace safety, and technical personnel training.

For over four decades, Maersk Training has provided specialized instruction services, professional competency development, and operational safety management to companies across various sectors, including energy, maritime transportation, renewable energy, and international logistics. The company’s activity has focused on providing support to corporate clients in managing operational risks and ensuring the safety of personnel in work environments.

Regarding the corporate transaction, the Head of Strategy of A.P. Moller – Maersk and Chair of the Board of Maersk Training, Katharina Poehlmann, has stated that Maersk Training has built a solid business structure supported by a team of specialized professionals, trusting relationships with its clients, and a foundation for its future development. Poehlmann has indicated that the operation will allow Maersk Training to continue its activity under the ownership of a specialized provider of training, safety, and technical training solutions.

For his part, the CEO of Maersk Training, David Skov, has described the agreement as a significant step in the company’s trajectory, noting that the sale recognizes the work carried out by the company over its more than 40 years of operation. Skov has stated that, while the organization maintains ties with the Maersk group, the staff faces the opportunities offered by the new phase under the ownership of a firm experienced in generating long-term value within segregated industrial assets.

Until the transfer of ownership is formally completed, expected for a later phase in 2026, Maersk Training will continue operating as an integral part of the corporate structure of A.P. Moller – Maersk. The company has confirmed that employees, clients, and business partners will maintain regular operations without variations in service provision or in the fulfillment of commitments acquired during the entire transition period towards the new ownership.
