According to police, the use of firearms in Berlin has increased sharply in recent years. Early on Sunday morning, unknown assailants shot at the window of a hair salon in Marzahn-Hellersdorf. The previous weekend, a 38-year-old man was shot in Schöneberg. “Disputes that were previously settled with fists are now perhaps more likely to be settled with firearms,” said Police President Barbara Slowik Meisel.
In 2025, the Berlin police recorded 1,119 cases of firearm use, an increase of 68% compared to 2024. Shots were fired in more than 500 of these cases.
