BERLIN, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – A man from Elmira, New York is in trouble after police say he may have repeatedly stolen large amounts of gold and silver from a comics shop in Berlin, Vermont.
According to Berlin Police, James Schultz, 40, was arrested some time after the latest burglary on Sunday morning.
Wonder Cards and Comics advertises that it sells precious metals and collectible coins in addition to toys and sports cards. A member of the store posted on its social media that about $40,000 worth of silver bars and coins were stolen Sunday, following a string of thefts in previous months.

On Sunday, Schultz allegedly entered the store through an unlocked second-story window, and then fled on foot on nearby railroad tracks, leaving behind “a large number of silver coins and bars” as he did so. Police say that $10,000 worth of silver was recovered from the area of the tracks.
Police say that they identified Schultz as a suspect in part due to a maroon-colored Jeep believed to be connected with thefts from the store, which Schultz was determined to have recently purchased.
Schultz reportedly appeared in court Wednesday, and this story may be updated as we learn more.
