In a short space of time, 1666: Amsterdam quickly drew a lot of eyes. With a major director behind the project, 1666: Amsterdam suddenly became a must-play game, so find out when early access begins and how to play it.
1666: Amsterdam is your classic action-adventure gameplay spliced with supernatural abilities, witchcraft, puzzle-solving, and a cute, demonic cat. The game is headed up by Assassin’s Creed creator Patrice Désilets, so the influences will be obvious, and early access should be as magical as a potion.

1666: Amsterdam early access finally releases on August 25, 2026.
Before I begin, just to clarify, 1666: Amsterdam is early access, and this is not the conventional 1.0 full launch you might expect from most games. It looks like a premium AAA title, but Panache Digital Games still has plenty to add to the pot.
So, on August 25, 1666: Amsterdam goes live in early access, which will give owners access to a large portion of the game, but it’s very much a work in progress—comparable to a beta in some ways.
Revealed during Summer Game Fest 2026, the setting, art style, and mystical and magical nature looked enchanting. With Désilets serving as director, my own personal hopes for this are high.
1666: Amsterdam Early Access Launch Times

How to Get 1666: Amsterdam Early Access

The only way to lay 1666: Amsterdam is by purchasing it once the option becomes available for PC users on Steam, and then downloading it, or pre-downloading it if the devs make it available.
Early access is only available for PC owners for now, which is what many early access games do, so it’s nothing out of the ordinary—like seeing two black cats in a row, for example.
You can actually download a free prologue demo right now on Steam. It will give you backstory, as well as a glimpse into early access.
