Serbian independence day is marked in Brussels by symbolically dressing the boy statue “Manneken Pis” in Serbian folk costume.

The commemoration was attended by representatives of the Mission of Serbia in the European Union, the NATO Mission in the EU, the Embassy of Serbia in Belgium and the Serbian diaspora. On that occasion, those present were served salt and bread and homemade brandy.

During that ceremony, activists of the Serbian diaspora organization “Thumbs Up” from Belgium organized an ad-hoc action, with which they wanted, as they said, to thwart the plan “to present a false image of Serbia, that everything is fine in the homeland.”

“Our activist group was present in fine numbers to show the true image of Serbia: that the Constitution is not respected, that the rule of law does not exist, but that there are more and more of us and that their time is running out. Accordingly, we showed them a red card!”, said the activists of the “Thumbs Up” organization from Brussels.

Activists carried banners and bloody hand symbols during the action, and there was also a short discussion with the head of the Serbian Mission to the EU, Danijel Apostolović, and the Serbian ambassador to Belgium, Aleksandar Tasić.

By the way, the media in Serbia published the news about the dressing of the “Mannequin Pisa” and the statements of the state officials present. However, they did not publish a word about the action of the activists of the “Thumbs Up” organization held at the same event.
