Maersk has announced an updated fuel surcharge for truck transportation in Greece amid higher fuel costs linked to the situation in the Middle East.

The new rate will take effect on 24 August 2026. Maersk described the surcharge as an exceptional and temporary measure to cover the additional costs it currently faces.

New fuel surcharge level

The following surcharge will apply in Greece:

Truck transportation: 12.5%

Maersk will display the charge on invoices under the EFS and IFS codes. EFS refers to the Export Fuel Surcharge, while IFS represents the Import Fuel Surcharge.

Weekly surcharge reviews

Maersk will review the surcharge every week instead of following its usual monthly process.

No trigger mechanism will apply during this period. Moreover, the carrier will publish an update every Friday for the following week.

The surcharge will remain in effect for as long as Maersk considers it necessary to cover the increased fuel costs.
