The LEGO Group has opened a public exhibition in Beijing about trademarks and intellectual property protection.
Jonas Bruntse Dahl Nielsen attended the opening on Friday, 21 August. He serves as Minister Counsellor and Head of Trade at the Danish Embassy in China.
The exhibition is called “Build it, Protect it.” It uses LEGO activities and play to explain intellectual property to visitors. It also shows why companies need to protect ideas, brands and creative work.
The Danish Embassy said IP protection remains a priority for Danish companies in China. Strong protection can help companies safeguard their products and brands. It can also support innovation and fair competition.
Denmark and China cooperate on IP issues at government level. The Danish Patent and Trademark Office works with the China National Intellectual Property Administration.
The two authorities signed their first cooperation agreement in 2021. They also operate a Patent Prosecution Highway programme. The programme aims to speed up the review of eligible patent applications. In 2024, the authorities extended it until the end of 2028.
The embassy also coordinates the Danish IP Alliance in China. According to the embassy, the alliance includes ten Danish companies. Its members share experiences and discuss common challenges linked to IP protection.
Visitors can see the “Build it, Protect it” exhibition at Ma Ci Gallery in Beijing’s 798 Art District. It remains open until 30 August.
