LEGO has made a habit out of quietly seeding franchise excitement through its holiday advent calendars, and this year’s Marvel lineup is proving no exception. With ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ still months away from its December release, fans have been combing through every scrap of official merchandise for hints about who’s actually showing up in Marvel’s next big crossover event.
That search intensified this week when LEGO officially unveiled its Marvel Advent Calendar 2026, a 317-piece, 24-day countdown set arriving September 1 for $44.99. Packed with mini builds and six minifigures, the calendar was clearly designed as festive holiday fun for kids ages six and up.

But it’s the specific character lineup that’s sparked real speculation among Marvel fans online. The calendar’s box art prominently features Wolverine and Spider-Man standing alongside Doctor Doom, and given the timing of the release relative to ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ some fans have started reading the pairing as a not-so-subtle tease of the film’s rumored roster, with one X user going as far as joking that LEGO isn’t “even hiding it anymore” by putting Wolverine and a Tobey Maguire-styled Spider-Man front and center on Doom-themed packaging.
It’s worth noting that LEGO’s official product description doesn’t name any actor or confirm any film tie-in at all. The set includes Spider-Man, Ghost Spider, Wolverine, Iron Man, and Captain America minifigures, with Doctor Doom rounding out the group as the newest addition to LEGO’s Marvel minifigure lineup. Whether the Spider-Man design is meant to evoke Tobey Maguire specifically, as some fans have speculated, or is simply LEGO’s standard interpretation of the character, hasn’t been confirmed by LEGO or Marvel.
Behind each of the calendar’s 24 doors sits a themed gift built around the holiday season, including a Captain America-themed airplane and photo booth, an Iron Man present-wrapping robot, a Doctor Doom-themed toy stall, a Spider-Man truck and ski set, a Ghost Spider car and drinks stall, a Doctor Doom helicopter, a snowball cannon, a Helicarrier, an X-Jet-themed sleigh, and even a Christmas tree built from green Wolverine claws. It’s a playful mashup of Christmas iconography and Marvel action figures rather than anything resembling a movie-accurate scene.
Still, the timing hasn’t stopped the speculation from spreading. ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ has been the subject of near-constant fan theorizing for months, with rumors swirling around potential cameos from a wide range of Marvel characters as Robert Downey Jr. prepares to step into the role of Doctor Doom. Any piece of official merchandise that pairs recognizable heroes with Doom’s likeness is almost guaranteed to get read as a hint, whether or not that was LEGO’s actual intent.
LEGO has previously released Marvel-themed advent calendars built around specific franchises, including a Spider-Man-focused set back in 2024, so a Doctor Doom-centered calendar ahead of his big-screen debut isn’t necessarily out of step with the company’s usual release patterns tied to upcoming films. Even so, the specific character combination on this year’s box has been enough to keep fans buzzing regardless of what LEGO officially confirms.
For now, the calendar remains exactly what it’s billed as: a holiday countdown toy aimed at kids who love Marvel’s Super Heroes, not a confirmed preview of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’s’ cast list. Whether that Wolverine and Spider-Man pairing ends up meaning anything once the film actually arrives in theaters remains to be seen.
Is LEGO secretly teasing the ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ cast?
