Powszechny Dom Towarowy Wola was built between 1949 and 1956 to a design by Michał Przerwa-Tetmajer. The department store remained in operation until 2005, before the building was converted into an office and commercial property in 2007. Adgar Poland acquired the building in 2021 and carried out a comprehensive refurbishment while retaining its distinctive façade.
The certification covered the entire building and was based on 12 months of data. According to JWA, which participated in the certification process, the result demonstrates that older buildings can be adapted to meet current environmental requirements.
Certification of an existing building confirms that its potential can be used more effectively than its age alone might suggest. Adgar PDT Wola is a good example of a building that has undergone a major change of use, from a former department store into a contemporary office and commercial property
