Oh, Gromit! The beloved animated duo is coming as a LEGO Ideas set, and this October release has now been officially unveiled. We’ve got all the images and info on the Wallace & Gromit motorcycle, and we’ll tell you how much dough you’ll need for the pair.

The eccentric inventor and his loyal dog will be available in LEGO form starting October 1, as the two claymation characters go on sale for an RRP of $99.99 / £89.99 / €99.99 at LEGO.com. LEGO 21371 Wallace & Gromit will then be available exclusively at LEGO for at least three months before possibly making its way to other retailers.

General Info on the Wallace & Gromit Set

Since their first appearance back in 1989 in the short film “A Grand Day Out,” the two claymation figures Wallace & Gromit haven’t just become a piece of British cultural heritage—they’re known worldwide thanks to their distinctive stop-motion style and humor. Starting October 1, 2026, they’ll receive a new honor in Denmark: the title of “LEGO Ideas set.” As part of the LEGO Ideas 90s Nostalgia Challenge, the unusual duo came out on top alongside the LEGO X-Files set thanks to their large fan base. The 1,038 pieces recreate not only the inventor and his loyal dog, but also the red motorcycle with sidecar that serves as the pair’s ride in various films. The RRP is $99.99 / £89.99 / €99.99, which works out to a price per piece of 9.6 cents.

For the LEGO set, Wallace & Gromit have been built at a larger scale so their distinctive aesthetic and visual features could be captured. Unlike many of today’s digitally animated films, Aardman Animations still relies on stop-motion, or claymation, where films are painstakingly created from thousands of individually built scenes. The behind-the-scenes video for the latest feature film offers a fascinating look at the immense effort and attention to detail of Nick Park and his team.

You’ll recognize the inventor Wallace by his unusually wide grin, his big nose, and his overalls. His arms and legs use the large 3×3 macaroni elements, which are now appearing for the first time in white and sand blue.

Peeking out of the sidecar next to him is Gromit, a beagle and the smarter of the two. His flying goggles were created using magnifying lenses, and his ears are dark brown fish fins.

If you’d like to check out Wallace & Gromit’s adventures today, you’ll find the four short films “A Grand Day Out,” “The Wrong Trousers,” “A Close Shave,” and “A Matter of Loaf and Death” as a miniseries, along with the two feature films “The Curse of the Were-Rabbit” (2005) and “Vengeance Most Fowl” (2024). The series “Shaun the Sheep” also comes from Aardman Animations, having grown from a sheep in the “A Close Shave” short film into its own standalone production. But even though the dog Bitzer and the farmer look similar to Wallace and Gromit, they’re their own separate characters.

You can take a closer look at the LEGO Wallace & Gromit set in these images, which show the motorcycle from various angles. Here you can see that the spoked rims from the LEGO Ford Model T have been fitted in light gray for the first time, and the fenders are built using red windshields.

However, it seems the figures can’t be displayed independently of the motorcycle, since Wallace’s seated position is designed to fit the motorcycle, and Gromit is presumably missing his legs. The motorcycle

Comparison with the Original

Wallace & Gromit live in a house full of quirky inventions that help with things like getting up, getting dressed, and buttering toast. For the LEGO set, however, the red motorcycle with sidecar was chosen, which also appears in many of the short films and features. It was already on the poster for “A Close Shave,” but it can also be spotted in the latest film “Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl,” where it was modified.

Comparison with the LEGO Ideas Submission

The choice of the red motorcycle had already been made by fan designer Pidelium, who submitted the Wallace & Gromit set design to the 90s LEGO Ideas Challenge and collected the most votes there. The set came out on top in the “Sets with under 1,000 pieces” category, though the official version ended up breaking through that mark after all. The size of the characters, and thus the building techniques used, have remained quite similar, however.

Conclusion

Nick Park and Aardman Animations’ attention to detail has paid off, and their two protégés Wallace & Gromit get to enjoy a LEGO rendition. Alongside the many Disney figures that often flood the lineup, these claymation characters make for a welcome change of pace—and personally, I associate them with plenty of childhood memories. Both the offbeat inventor and his loyal canine companion have been captured nicely, and going forward they can share the shelf with LEGO Snoopy.

How do you like the new LEGO Ideas set for Wallace & Gromit? Are you a fan of the films and excited about the claymation characters in LEGO brick form? Can you picture adding the motorcycle to your collection and displaying it alongside other animated characters? Feel free to share your thoughts on the set in the comments and join the conversation.
