Ørsted announced on September 1 that the 920 MW Greater
Changhua 2b
and 4
offshore wind farms, located 35 to 60 kilometres off the coast of Changhua
County, Taiwan, have completed major construction work.


The announcement follows the completion of the Greater Changhua 1 and 2a
offshore wind farms, which became fully operational in 2024. Together,
the Greater Changhua cluster now has a total installed capacity of 1.82
GW, enough to power approximately 2 million Taiwanese households annually.



This construction milestone marks significant progress, with the wind farms
expected to achieve full commercial operation by the end of the third quarter
of 2026.


Rasmus Errboe, Group President and CEO of Ørsted, said: “The completion
of Greater Changhua 2b and 4 is a significant milestone in the delivery
of Ørsted’s strategy and global 8.1 GW construction programme.”



The announcement also emphasised the use of local partnerships and the
wind farms’ contribution to Taiwan’s green finance ecosystem.


Cho Jung-tai, Taiwan’s premier, said Ørsted’s long-term commitment to Taiwan
has supported the country’s offshore wind development, stating: “By actively
introducing innovative technologies, cultivating local talent, fostering
industry-academia collaboration, and vitalising green finance, Ørsted and
its partners have played a crucial role in realising our nation’s energy
ambitions and policy goals.”
