According to the National Armed Forces Headquarters Battalion, the honor guard at the posts near the Freedom Monument and the Riga Castle will not be on duty until September 6 inclusive.
This decision was made so that the army could provide full support to the State Border Guard at the eastern border of the country.
Previously, Operation “Vilkatis,” aimed at reducing illegal migration, was extended until **October 3**. The National Armed Forces are providing significant assistance to the border guards in carrying out this operation.
Additionally, an enhanced security regime continues to be in effect at the Latvian-Belarusian border until the end of the year. This was implemented due to increased pressure from illegal migration from Belarus.
