DFDS has announced an agreement to sell the ro-ro vessel Cappadocia Seaways after more than 23 years of service, as part of its ongoing fleet optimisation strategy.
The decision follows an assessment of current and future capacity requirements across the company’s Mediterranean network.
To maintain service levels, DFDS will deploy Selandia Seaways on the Tunis-Marseille route. The 197m freight ferry offers a capacity of 2,772 lane meters, equivalent to 177 trailers. Meanwhile, Gallipoli Seaways will replace Cappadocia Seaways on the Mersin-Trieste route.
The Tunis-Marseille route has experienced steady volume growth, and DFDS aims to strengthen its position on this corridor with the introduction of Selandia Seaways.
The company stated that the fleet adjustments will ensure adequate frequency and service quality while supporting trade between Europe, Turkey, and North Africa.
