Denmark’s former queen Margrethe II has been hospitalised.
Danish news agency Ritzau reported on Sunday that Margrethe was suffering from a blood clot in the hip area and mild dehydration.
Margrethe will remain in Copenhagen’s Rigshospitalet university hospital for observation and to undergo further examinations, according to a statement from the palace.

She will therefore miss the state funeral for Norwegian King Harald V in Oslo on Wednesday, the palace said.
The queen was in good spirits and doing well given the circumstances, it added.
The 86-year-old was admitted to hospital in May with angina pectoris – chest pain caused by a disruption in the blood supply to the heart. She had to undergo a procedure to widen her blood vessels.
Later that same month, she was admitted for treatment after a CT scan revealed significant bleeding in the hip area after a fall.
Margrethe unexpectedly abdicated in January 2024 and, after 52 years as Denmark’s head of state, handing the throne over to her son, King Frederik X and making his Australian-born wife Mary the new queen.
