New Billund Airport location marks a strategic expansion beyond fuel retailing.
Circle K will open its first stand‑alone convenience store in Denmark in 2026, choosing Billund Airport as the debut location for the company’s expanded retail format. The store, set inside the airport’s check‑in area and arrivals hall, will be accessible to both travelers and visitors.
The launch marks a significant strategic move for Circle K, with more than 200 stores across Denmark and an annual convenience turnover of DKK 3.5 billion ($553 millions). Plans to bring this experience directly into Denmark’s second‑largest airport are already underway, offering a selection of freshly prepared meals, snacks and beverages aimed at travelers seeking fast, convenient options before departure or on arrival.
“We want to meet customers where they are, including outside the traditional fuel station,” said Peter Rasmussen, Managing Director of Circle K Denmark. “Billund Airport has more than three million travelers a year, and it is a natural place to showcase Circle K as a pure convenience business.”
The Billund Airport store will operate as a franchise and becomes the brand’s first independent location in the country, drawing on its international experience with similar formats. The opening, expected to be completed in the first half of 2026, will help Circle K evaluate broader opportunities for extending its Danish retail operations beyond fuel stations.
