Vilnius Airport in Lithuania experienced an operational halt at 6:30 p.m. GMT Tuesday evening. The halt was caused by Belarusian weather balloons entering Lithuanian airspace, leading to the closure of the airport.
Located approximately 30 kilometers from Belarus, Vilnius Airport has faced over ten such disruptions since early October 2025, as weather balloons from the neighboring country continue to intrude.
Authorities from Lithuania’s crisis management center are on high alert, closely monitoring the airspace, and taking necessary actions to ensure safe air travel amid these recurring intrusions.
