ST. PAUL, Minn. — Gov. Tim Walz is traveling to Denmark, Sweden and Iceland through Oct. 3 to strengthen international partnerships and promote Minnesota as a destination for business investment.
The trip focuses on expanding opportunities for Minnesota companies and workers. Walz will meet with government, business and economic development leaders to advance the state’s leadership in healthcare innovation, agriculture, clean technology, higher education and advanced manufacturing.
“This trip is an opportunity to showcase Minnesota’s strengths, open doors for Minnesota businesses, and attract investment that supports good-paying jobs,” Walz said. “By strengthening our global connections, we are positioning Minnesota for continued growth and ensuring bold ideas, innovative companies, and talented people can thrive here.”
The Minnesota delegation will highlight the state’s talented workforce, world-class educational institutions and innovative businesses. The goal is to build partnerships that support lasting economic growth.
Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development Commissioner Matt Varilek said the state’s skilled workforce and business environment will be central to conversations during the trip. “Minnesota pairs a legacy of technological innovation with a highly skilled and educated workforce – all critical variables for business productivity, innovation and growth,” Varilek said.
The trip builds on Walz’s commitment to international business development. Under his administration, Minnesota has pursued a strategy to expand exports, attract foreign investment and develop partnerships with business and government leaders worldwide.
Since 2019, Walz and his administration have led 12 international trade missions to more than 18 countries. They have visited more than 45 international companies with investments in Minnesota.
