Manchester United have endured a miserable international break with a number of players having been forced back to Old Trafford with injuries, with Patrick Dorgu among those affected

Patrick Dorgu has been forced to pull out of international duty due to injury. The Manchester United defender was named in Denmark’s starting XI for their Nations League clash against Wales on Sunday.
But his evening lasted just 30 minutes after picking up an injury. After being withdrawn, he went straight down the tunnel and was seen holding the back of his left thigh.
He is set to undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury but Denmark boss Brian Riemer has confirmed that Dorgu will return to Old Trafford and he will now call up a replacement.
“He’s [Dorgu] suffered an injury and has to go home. We’ll have to call up a replacement,” Riemer said. “It could be Anders Dreyer, it could be Andreas Skov Olsen, who has got off to a good start in Turkey, but it could also be one of the young players.”

Denmark have a further two Nations League games to play before the end of the international break. They host Portugal on Thursday evening ahead of the weekend’s second clash with Wales.
United will be keeping their fingers crossed that Dorgu’s issue is not serious enough to keep him out for a considerable period of time. The Danish defender has already made six appearances for the club this season and has notched a couple of assists.
Dorgu is not the only one to have picked up an injury during the international break. Captain Bruno Fernandes is currently sidelined for Portugal and missed the clash with Norway.

Speaking ahead of that game, boss Jorge Jesus said: “He played with an injury he brought from Manchester United. He really wanted to play against Wales. He wasn’t at his usual level, we’ll see if he’s ready.”
The Portugal boss added: “He said he’s been dealing with that pain for about three games, and that was one of the factors that prevented him from being at his usual level against Wales.
“He was my player, I know him perfectly. I’ve already spoken to him. I prefer not to risk him in this game and have him clean and in good physical condition for the Denmark game.”
There were a number of other concerns for United before the three-week break, with Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford forced out of England duty. Benjamin Sesko, Amad Diallo, Matthijs de Ligt, Manuel Ugarte were all also sidelined for the Red Devils.
