Union Station is pulling back the curtain for a look at its next exhibit featuring more than four decades of history. It’s focusing on the Cold War — communism versus capitalism and the wall that split Berlin in half. “The Berlin Wall – A World Divided” opens at Kansas City’s historic Union Station in May.The exhibit will tell the story of the wall with more than 200 historical artifacts. And you’ll get to see parts of the wall itself. More than 10 tons of the original structure are coming to Kansas City.Organizers say it tells a powerful story of separation, espionage, democracy and the enduring fight for freedom and human rights. “So this is actually the beauty of the exhibition, is that we really get to understand what it meant for people living in Berlin and elsewhere in the world, to actually live in this confrontation of the Cold War,” said Luis Ferreiro, CEO of Musealia. The exhibit comes from the same producers as “Auschwitz. Not Long Ago. Not Far Away.” which was here on display in 2021 and was Union Station’s highest-attended exhibition ever. “The Berlin Wall: A World Divided” opens in May.
