C&J Barbeque owner Justin Manning featured fried Brussels sprouts and a jalapeno pepper jack brisket sandwich as the restaurant’s side and sandwich of the month.
Manning said the Brussels sprouts are fried with bacon, onion and honey.
“All you got to do is fry them, put bacon, onion, a little honey, and a little love in it, and they’re delicious,” Manning said.
Manning sautes onions and garlic and makes a sauce with apple cider vinegar, honey, salt, pepper and lemon juice to finish the dish.
He said he chose to fry the Brussels sprouts rather than boil or bake them.
“Down here in the South, frying makes everything better,” Manning said.
Sandwich of the month
C&J Barbeque’s sandwich of the month is a roasted jalapeno pepper jack and brisket sandwich on sourdough with jalapeno aioli.
Manning said the jalapenos are de-seeded and roasted on the flat top before being added to the sandwich. He said the jalapeno aioli carries jalapeno flavor without heat.
Catering menu
Manning said C&J Barbeque also prepared bacon, egg and cheese egg rolls with jalapeno aioli for a private breakfast catering order.
He said customers can request similar items by booking a catering order through the restaurant.
