To commemorate the 108th anniversary of the restoration of the Lithuanian state, the youth organization “Pro Patria” organized a torchlight procession in Vilnius on Monday, as it does every year.
The marchers gathered at the Gate of Dawn on Monday evening, where, after a priest spoke, they sang a hymn together. Later, the procession moved towards Jonas Basanavičius Square, where the signatories of the February 16th Act were honored.
Immediately afterwards, a column of several hundred people carrying torches, the Lithuanian tricolor, and the Vytis flag marched towards Lukiškės Square.
Last year, more than 500 people gathered for this march. During it, the controversial slogan “Lithuania – for Lithuanians” was chanted several times.
The torchlight procession organized by the youth organization “Pro Patria” has been taking place in Vilnius since 2018.
