LEGO’s newest mega-sized set is aimed squarely at fishkeeping and aquarium enthusiasts with 10366 Tropical Aquarium, a massive colourful marine fish tank made out of LEGO!

This 4,154-piece model features one of the most vibrant collections of colours in a LEGO set, used to build brightly coloured tropical fish, coral, anemones and even a crab.

10366 Tropical Aquarium will retail for US$479.99 / AU$699.99 / £449.99 and will be released on 13 November 2025, exclusively from LEGO.com or your local LEGO store.

There’ll also be an exclusive Gift with Purchase (GWP) to go along with the set. If you order 10366 Tropical Aquarium between 13-19 November 2025, you’ll also receive a 5009823 Fish Tank Filter & Fish Food, a small filter that you can attach to the side of the aquarium, which has a tiny fish stuck in it, plus some fish food!

So first of all, let’s address the elephant in the room, the price. This is a really audacious model put forward by LEGO. After all, who’s asking for a massive 4000+ piece LEGO Fish Tank that measures 52cm (20.5 in.) wide, and 36cm (14 in.) tall.

US$480 / AU$700 / £450 is a huge amount of a money for a LEGO set, making 10366 Tropical Aquarium one of the priciest LEGO sets of 2025, which is quite wild considering its an unlicensed LEGO Icons set, but LEGO are likely thinking of fishkeepers and aquarium enthusiasts with this model.

If you’ve ever had Aquariums, this isn’t a particularly outrageous amount, especially if its a marine/reef aquarium, instead of a freshwater one. A sump with protein skimmer, lights, filter media will likely cost as much already, and you haven’t even started with fish, salt, chemicals, live rock, and corals, which will blow your budget out further.

So yeah, fishkeepers are used to spending exorbitant amounts on their Aquariums. But will they want a plastic Marine Aquarium instead of the real thing? That’s LEGO’s big bet here.

I got the opportunity to see 10366 Tropical Aquarium at Fan Media Days, in Billund, and it’s a really good looking set. The colours absolutely pop, and there’s plenty of great details inside that will appeal to fans of nature, especially of the marine kind.

Here’s me holding the set with Mateo (LEGO element designer), and Sven Franic, the model designer.

LEGO have created a brand new fin element for the fish, which is quite versatile, which you can see used in all different angles here. Unfortunately, the fish aren’t really based on real tropical fish, and they’re LEGO’s own interpretations and creative designs inspired by the real things, which I think is a shame.

Throw in a Clownfish, Gobies, Blennies, Angelfish, Butterfly Fish, Tangs or Puffers and you’d likely have more appeal, in my opinion.

That said, the coral are the real stars of the Tropical Aquarium, just like an actual saltwater aquarium. There’s so many different unique species here, and plenty of fun recolours and clever use of LEGO elements throughout.

There are also interactive play features, where a crab can rush out of his cavern, and the fish can move their fins and move about, and some of the corals can also move which gives it a bit of playability.

I think this set has a very niche appeal, and definitely won’t be for everyone. If you own Aquariums, especially Saltwater Tanks, you’ll likely appreciate the appeal of the set.

Marine Tanks are hard to keep, and for those nostalgic of times they’ve had ones in the past, this is a pretty easy way to relive your hobby without the investment and headache of maintaining an aquarium. No more water tests, just dusting your LEGO Fish and Coral.

But for most LEGO fans, I think the set’s high pricetag creates a huge barrier of entry, and this will likely not be a set that will have plenty of mainstream success.

10366 Tropical Aquarium will be released on 13 November exclusively from LEGO.com or your local LEGO Store.

What do you think of the LEGO Tropical Aquarium? Does this set appeal to you?
