The LEGO Group is investing a further $2.8 million (DKK 18 million) in carbon dioxide removal (CDR) solutions that will go towards four different projects in collaboration with Climate Impact Partners and ClimeFi.
With this move, the LEGO Group is boosting its previous CDR support, bringing its total commitment to date to $8.5 million (DKK 54 million).
Annette Stube, Chief Sustainability Officer at the LEGO Group, said this purchase highlights the company’s commitment to testing a broad range of credible pathways for nature and tech-based carbon removal. “As the program expands, it is helping to strengthen our understanding of different approaches and inform future decision-making on how carbon removal may complement our wider climate goals,” she added.
Through a collaboration with Climate Impact Partners, the LEGO Group is advancing its existing support for large-scale reforestation projects, this time providing backing to an initiative in Quintana Roo State, Mexico.

The other projects to receive support from the LEGO Group include three initiatives that are being added to the company’s CDR portfolio in partnership with ClimeFi.
Centered around engineered carbon removal technologies, the three selected projects deliver varying durability profiles through a range of emerging CDR approaches.
Their technologies rely on different processes, including carbon removal via biomass geological storage, where CO₂-rich organic waste is stored deep underground with slurry injection technology; carbon mineralization, in which CO2 is converted into manufactured limestone using reactive waste materials, creating useful building materials; and marine CDR (mCDR) through wastewater alkalinity enhancement.
