If the declared mission of Gianpiero Garofalo a Helsinki, final stage of the FEI World Cup Western Europe, was to keep the blue colors high, the objective was achieved and far exceeded. Garofalo was in fact among the protagonists of yesterday’s GP with the 6th place in the jump-off (0/4 pen), after having placed 2nd in the 1,45 m race on the opening day riding Kardessa Z to then brilliantly win the 1,50 m with LambruscoYesterday, in the main competition Garofalo (Dear van’t Ruythershof) literally “flew” over the obstacles of the basic course, but then ran into a contact in the jump-off, finishing 6th among the 7 competitors of the second lap (out of 39 starters).
A top ten finish in the GP speaks of a remarkable performance, music to the ears of the Italian “cittì” Cesaretto, looking for pairs for the national team destined for the major events of the LLN and Rolex SeriesOnly three pairs achieved double zero: victory for the Swiss Steve Guerdat (Albufuehren’s Iashin Sitte), who beat the Norwegian Lyngvaer (Carabella vd Neyen Z) and the Belgian Daem (Kavaliers Blue). At the final of Forth Worth, TexasOur group will send the top 18 overall, but as always, there will be some cancellations and “recoveries” to be expected, so the list will be official in a few days. There are no Italians among the finalists.
The other notable event was the meeting of polo “on snow” played at San Candido between Italy e France, finished 4-4: a test to pass the baton of Milan-Cortina to the transalpines, also having the aim of bringing polo on the snow in the next Winter Olympics.
