WARSAW, N.Y. (WROC) — A massive four-alarm barn fire in Warsaw resulted in the complete loss of the barn and its contents. Two firefighters were hospitalized.

At around 9:37 p.m. on Friday, March 6, crews with the Wyoming County Office of Emergency Services received a call from emergency services about a barn fire on Route 20A in Warsaw. Fire crews responded in numbers, including 15 fire companies to work the blaze and five companies on standby in neighboring departments, officials say.

The barn was about 250 feet by 40 feet in size and had a gable roof. It was fully ablaze when firefighters arrived. Within were stored loose belongings, a milking parlor, straw, and equipment.

The LeRoy Fire Department, which assisted, said this was a difficult fire to extinguish because pockets of fire remained, causing poor smoke conditions.

Firefighters were on scene for 6 hours. They were able to protect the house from any damage, and no animals died in the fire. The estimated cost of the damages is $100,000.

Four firefighters required medical attention, and two were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
