Happy Mario Day, aka Mar10 Day! LEGO and Nintendo have officially announced their next large-scale set with 72050 Mario Kart Luigi & Mach 8 set for a 1 April 2026 release!
After being teased way back in January, we finally have a complete look at this 2,234-piece model, which lets you build Luigi’s iconic Mach 8 Kart from the Mario Kart series. It’s the perfect companion to 2025’s excellent 72037 Mario & Standard Kart model.
72050 Mario Kart Luigi & Mach 8 will be available exclusively from LEGO.com or your local LEGO Store on 1 April 2026, with pre-orders open now online.

There’s been a slight price bump for the set over the 72037 Mario & Standard Kart set, but that’s likely because there’s close to 300 more pieces in the set.

The LEGO Luigi Mach 8 model measures over 10 in. (25 cm) high, 16 in. (41 cm) long and 9 in. (23 cm) wide, and is at the same scale as the big Mario Kart set. Here’s both sets together side by side.
The Mario and Standard Kart model set the bar incredibly high for sculpting, especially how well Mario translated into LEGO at this scale, and LEGO have done it again here with Luigi. The nose, moustache and hat elements all make a return here, and there’s also a new L tile, as well as brand new printed rims.
If you’ve played Mario Kart, you’d be able to fully appreciate just how accurate this model is to the in-game Kart, which is Luigi’s signature vehicle.

It’s safe to say that if you enjoyed 72037 Mario & Standard Kart, you’ll definitely want to add Mario’s younger twin brother and his signature Mach 8 kart to your collection, when it drops on 1 April 2026.
Now that this is done, I really hope we get a bike next! Princess Peach on a bike would be really cool, or alternatively, I’d love a Yoshi in his Egg 1 kart to complete the trio.
72050 Mario Kart Luigi & Mach 8 will be available exclusively from LEGO.com or your local LEGO Store from 1 April 2026, with pre-orders open now online.
What do you think of the Luigi and Mach 8 set? Will you be adding this set to your collection?
