The Spanish group ACS has been awarded a contract for the construction and expansion of a section of the railway network in Sweden, worth approximately €900 million. The contract, awarded through its German subsidiary Hochtief, involves the design and construction of a 26-kilometer segment of the East Link railway line, located near Stockholm. The project will be developed in collaboration with the Swedish public transport authority Trafikverket under a public-private cooperation agreement. According to the planned schedule, work is expected to be completed in 2034, reflecting the technical complexity of the infrastructure.
The section awarded to ACS is part of the East Link project, a new rail link of approximately 160 kilometers intended to connect the cities of Jarna and Linköping and strengthen the rail network in southern Sweden. The project includes the design and construction of tunnels, bridges, and a new train station in the Vagnhärad area, as well as the modernization of existing infrastructure.
