Get ready for a truly outrageous movie experience: Popup Kino is hosting a special screening this Saturday, 7th February at the Vuosaari Swimming Hall in Helsinki, 19:45–22:00. Pool floats double as seats, there are two sauna breaks built into the programme, and a big screen will be set up right by the edge of the pool. Yes – this is a movie night you can actually dive into.

And really, what film could be more appropriate than The Penguin Lessons? Based on a true story, the film follows an English professor’s emotional and political awakening after he accidentally rescues a penguin from the sea and takes it into his care amid Argentina’s turbulent history. It’s directed by Peter Cattaneo, best known for The Full Monty, and stars Oscar nominee Steve Coogan.

In other words – this movie really makes a splash. And in this venue, that’s not just a clever line – it’s basically the dress code.

No separate ticket is needed, the admission to the film is included with your ordinary swimming hall entry.
