ORANGE, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) – State police are reporting Friday that a 78-year-old man has died in a crash at least partly due to snowy weather conditions.

The man, identified as only a man from Berlin pending notification of his family, was reportedly driving west on U.S. 302 towards Barre when his pickup truck began to fishtail and crashed into another pickup truck heading east in the opposite lane.

The other driver suffered reported minor injuries, but the Berlin man died in the crash. According to police reports, the cab of his truck had separated from the frame.

Several road closures announced across Vermont during heavy snow

The crash was first reported at about 3:30 p.m., and caused a road closure in Orange for several hours, near the intersection of U.S. 302 and Provencher Lane.
