It was previously announced that the airport would be closed until 5 p.m., but news website Delfi later reported that the airport would remain closed until 7 p.m.

The incident involved LOT Polish Airlines plane Embraer E170STD. It landed at 1:34 p.m. but skidded of the runway while taxiing.

Based on preliminary information, nobody was hurt in the incident. Passengers disembarked, their luggage was retrieved, and they left the airport.

According to Delfi, 63 passengers and 4 crew members were travelling on the plane.

Passengers whose flights were scheduled to depart from Vilnius Airport before 7 p.m. were asked to contact their airlines and to follow the latest information on Vilnius Airport’s website.

Minister of Transport Juras Taminskas says disruptions affected 34 arriving and departing flights and several thousand passengers.

Lithuanian Airports (LTOU) CEO Simonas Bartkus urges to wait for findings of the would-be investigation instead of speculating about the incident.

He says Vilnius Airport had taken all the necessary measures to ensure that the runway is in good condition.
