Uber has agreed to acquire Blacklane, a Berlin‑based premium chauffeur service, as it pushes deeper into luxury and executive‑grade travel. The acquisition is expected to close by the end of 2026, subject to regulatory approval and other closing conditions.

Once complete, the deal will bolster Uber’s growing portfolio of planned, high‑quality transport services, including Uber Reserve and the recently announced Uber Elite offering.

Blacklane positions itself as a global chauffeur platform focused on premium, reliable, and more sustainable travel, offering airport transfers, long‑distance city‑to‑city rides, and hourly bookings for both business and leisure travellers. The company operates in more than 500 cities across over 60 countries, working with independent local chauffeur partners through its app and web‑based booking platform.

Blacklane is already used by many large global companies for executive and corporate travel, which makes it a natural fit as Uber expands beyond daily rides into higher‑end mobility.

Uber has said that premium travel is one of the fastest‑growing parts of its business. Demand for planned, pre‑booked, and higher‑quality transport services has been rising, particularly via its Uber Reserve product, which allows users to book rides in advance. By integrating Blacklane’s chauffeur‑service infrastructure, Uber aims to strengthen its foothold in the chauffeur‑driven, high‑end segment, giving customers more choice from everyday commutes to luxury airport and intercity trips.

Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi says, “Premium travel is one of the most exciting growth areas of Uber’s business. We want to offer the widest selection of options to meet our riders where they are: from the everyday commute to luxury rides. We’re incredibly impressed by what Blacklane has built, and we’re eager to work with them to amplify how we deliver truly exceptional service to more people in cities around the world.”

Blacklane founder and CEO Dr Jens Wohltorf adds that the company’s growth has been built on consistently excellent service across its global network. The Uber partnership, he said, represents a major step in expanding Blacklane’s reach and bringing its “luxury hospitality‑style” premium travel experience to new markets through Uber’s platform.
