With the World Cup kicking off in just a few weeks, The LEGO Group has signed a squad of football (soccer) legends to its new LEGO Editions theme.

We have the likes of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Kylian Mbappé, and Vinícius Júnior represented as minifigures, but also posable 2-in-1 constraction-esque figures, plus a 1,427-piece Lionel Messi wall art model that pays tribute to his signature celebration pose.

9 sets will be released on 1 May 2026, just in time for the summer of football and the World Cup, and 43018 Lionel Messi – Celebration will be released on 1 June 2026.

I’ve been watching football since I was a kid, so it’s incredible to see LEGO finally embrace football in this way, and to also win the rights to turn the likes of Messi, Ronaldo, and Mbappé into minifigures. The price points for these football highlights dioramas are quite decent, and will ensure young fans get access to their favourite sporting stars without breaking the bank.

Solid lineup of legends and young starlets like Mbappé and Vini Jr. If there was any current players missing, I’d have to say that an English player (I support England at the WC) like Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka or Jude Bellingham or Spanish wunderkind Lamine Yamal, with the latter’s absence quite odd as Spain are one of the top favourites for the World Cup 2026.
