The Ukrainian Youth Association (SUM) plans to strengthen its presence in Europe and present its activities in Vilnius, with a focus on developing a youth network abroad.
The organization announced this on its official page. In April, the SUM External Development Desk team will meet with the Ukrainian community in Vilnius to discuss the development of the youth movement and opportunities for Ukrainian youth abroad.
SUM representatives will hold two key meetings in which they will share the organization’s mission, educational methods, and prospects for emigrant youth.
Plan of Events in Vilnius
On April 18 (Saturday), a meeting is planned at the Ukrainian Center in Vilnius, starting at 13:00.
On April 19 (Sunday) there will be a presentation at the Holy Trinity Church (Vilniaus Švč. Trejybės bažnyčia), starting at 12:00.
The Ukrainian Youth Association and Its Role in the Diaspora
SUM is one of the oldest and most powerful youth organizations in the diaspora, which educates young people on the foundations of patriotism and Christian ethics. The organization’s motto is: God and Ukraine.
The purpose of the visit to Lithuania is to unite Ukrainian youth around national values, preserve identity, and attract new members to the SUM’s global network, which operates in dozens of countries worldwide.
A notable milestone: on October 5, 2025, in Gdańsk, Poland, the founding meeting of a SUM branch was held, after which Poland became the 14th country where a branch of the global Ukrainian community would operate.
The visit to Lithuania underscores SUM’s aspiration to strengthen ties among Ukrainian youth abroad and expand the network of like-minded people in the diaspora.
