BROOME, N.Y. (WNYT) – An Amsterdam man is accused of driving drunk with children in the vehicle and crashing on an animal shelter’s property.
The Schoharie County Sheriff’s Office said that Erray Vanbuckly, 53, was traveling on Route 145 in the town of Broome when he crashed off the road. Two children were in the vehicle.
Vanbuckly allegedly refused to submit to a chemical test.
He was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated-Leandra’s Law, DWI, endangering the welfare of a child and vehicle and traffic violations.
The vehicle crashed through the fence of the Broome Animal Sanctuary, according to the organization’s Facebook page.
A temporary fence has been installed.
