“Due to the ongoing Lufthansa staff strike on 15–16 April, all flights of the carrier between Vilnius and Frankfurt have been cancelled for this period,” ELTA has learned from Martynas Jaugelavičius, a representative of Lithuanian Airports (LTOU).
According to him, 6 flights were called off for Wednesday and 6 for Thursday. These include 3 arrivals and 3 departures on both days. In addition, one outbound flight scheduled for Friday was also suspended.
LTOU representative said that the affected passengers or those planning trips should follow official information provided by Lufthansa.
As reported, initially it was announced that 10 flights were cancelled between Vilnius and Frankfurt on 13–14 April.
As a result of the pilot walkout, a total of 23 flights between the two cities have been scrapped this week.
The pilot strike organised by the trade union Vereinigung Cockpit is related to remuneration disputes, including the company’s pension system and regional subsidiary CityLine staff wages.
This is the fourth strike at the company group this year.
Six flights were cancelled between Vilnius and Frankfurt last Friday due to Lufthansa cabin crew strike.
