WEST STOCKHOLM — Richard Michael “Mike” Dent, 70, of West Stockholm, died on Wednesday, April 25, 2026, at the Canton-Potsdam Hospital after being stricken ill at home.

Mike was born August 18, 1955, in Bradford, PA, a son of the late Richard L. and Norma Jean (Jamison) Dent.

Mike graduated from Hemon-DeKalb Central School and from Canton ATC with an electrical engineering degree.

He worked for and retired from Spectrum after several dedicated years.

Mike enjoyed roller skating, ping pong, foosball, wrestling, rifle club and was a car enthusiast and dedicated to watching the Mecum Auctions. He always enjoyed visits with his lifelong friend Kermit and going to the casino.

He is survived by six siblings, Bonnie (John) Friot, Sally (Marshall) Noble, John Dent, Esther (Ronald) Dana, Pamela Dent and Ronald (Becky) Dent, 16 nieces and nephews, 24 great-nieces and nephews and many cousins.

In addition to his parents, Richard and Norma Jean, he was predeceased by nephews Aaron, Bryan and Joseph Dent, great niece, Sophia Dana and sister-in-law, Christina Dent.

Calling hours for Mike will be held on Thursday, April 23, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at the O’Leary Funeral Home, Canton, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 pm.

Burial in the Fairview Cemetery will follow the service.
