WARSAW, Mo. (KY3) – Warsaw is in cleanup mode days after a tornado ripped through the community.
People along one street lost trees, with one property having 30 trees toppled over. Residents are now cleaning up and fixing damage to their homes.
Storm brought roar, devastation
Frank and Freda Proctor heard the tornado before it hit.
“Well, you could hear a whistle first and then the roar. And that’s when it hits,” Frank Proctor said.
“We heard the roar, and we ran to the basement with our animals,” Freda Proctor said.
They stayed in the basement for about 10 minutes as the storm passed overhead. When they came back up, the damage was already clear.
“Oh my. Disaster. Just…devastation, limbs on the truck, the boat, trees down everywhere,” Freda Proctor said.
The tornado knocked down multiple trees on their property, damaging both their truck and boat and causing some damage to their home.
“We had one, some damage in the back come through the house. So a little bit of damage on that and up on the corner,” Freda Proctor said.
