A new entity, Perigus Energy, has officially been launched after Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP) acquired Ørsted‘s European onshore business. The transaction was executed through CIP’s fifth flagship fund, CI V, marking a significant development in the European renewable energy landscape.
Previously operating under Ørsted, the business will now function independently as Perigus Energy, adopting a new identity and strategic direction focused on scaling onshore renewable energy assets across key European markets.
Portfolio and Operational Footprint
Perigus Energy will develop, construct, and operate onshore wind, solar, and battery storage projects across Ireland, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Spain. The company’s current portfolio generates clean electricity sufficient to power approximately 600,000 European homes.
In addition, five projects are currently under construction in Ireland and Germany. The company’s combined operational and under-construction capacity stands at 826 MW. This capacity is supported by a diversified commercial framework, including government-backed support schemes and corporate power purchase agreements (CPPAs). The company confirmed that all existing contracts, partners, and counterparties remain unchanged following the acquisition.
Growth Strategy and Pipeline Expansion
Built on decades of operational experience across multiple renewable technologies and geographies, Perigus Energy is now focused on advancing its multi-gigawatt pipeline. Backed by CIP, the company plans to accelerate project execution and expand renewable capacity across Europe.
Kieran White, CEO of Perigus Energy, added, “Perigus Energy is a very exciting next chapter in a long-running renewable success story which has evolved from the origins of an Irish farmer’s cooperative and a German family-run business. And so, while our name is new, our people are experienced, and our mission is the same.
The high volatility in international energy markets demonstrates clearly Europe’s need for secure, home-grown and green electricity. With Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners on board, we will enhance our delivery capability across our multi-gigawatt investment-ready pipeline spanning onshore wind, solar and battery storage. Together, we look forward to advancing renewables to power a secure energy future with care for both society, nature and our people.“
