LEGO and SEGA have just announced that a SEGA Genesis (Mega Drive) console set is coming later this year.

For all you fans of the SEGA tower of power like me, LEGO is making a SEGA Genesis (aka the Mega Drive) set, and it’s surprisingly affordable.

The unit is available for purchase starting June 1st, and will cost you $39.99 / £34.99 / €39.99.

Measurements: The set measures over 1.5 in. (4 cm) high, 6 in (16 cm) wide and 4.5 in (12 cm) deep, while the controllers measure over 1 in. (2 cm) high, 3 in (8 cm) wide and 9.5 in. (24 cm) deep

What’s included: The building kit includes 2 detachable controllers, a game card that can be taken out of the console, plus sticker decorations

The SEGA Genesis (in North America, Mega Drive elsewhere) was released in Japan in 1988, in North America in 1989, and in most other markets in 1990. It would go on to sell just over 30 million units and have a wild range of accessories, that I and my brother owned most of. The SEGA CD and 32x for the original model were dubbed the “Tower of Power” by those crazy enough to buy it.
