A new name has entered Europe’s renewable energy landscape: Perigus Energy. The company emerges following Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners’ (CIP) acquisition of Ørsted’s European onshore business, a transaction completed through its flagship fund CI V and previously announced, making the rebranding and strategic positioning the main development now.

Perigus Energy will operate across Ireland, Germany, the United Kingdom and Spain, managing a portfolio of 826 MW of operational and under-construction capacity, alongside a multi-gigawatt development pipeline. The company will focus on onshore wind, solar and battery storage, maintaining all existing contracts and partnerships inherited from its previous structure under Ørsted.

Headquartered in Cork, the company employs more than 200 people across several European offices, including Madrid, London and Hamburg. Its current portfolio generates enough electricity to supply approximately 600,000 households, with five additional projects under construction in Ireland and Germany.

The launch signals a continuation rather than a disruption of the existing business. Perigus Energy retains the same teams and assets, now operating under a new identity backed by CIP. The company’s commercial model combines government-backed support schemes with corporate power purchase agreements (CPPAs), providing revenue stability amid ongoing volatility in energy markets.

Kunal Patel, Partner at CIP, described the development as “a major milestone for continued growth in European onshore renewables,” highlighting the combination of an established operating base and a pipeline ready for investment.

Meanwhile, CEO Kieran White emphasized continuity in the company’s trajectory despite the rebrand. He noted that while the name is new, the business builds on “a long running renewable success story,” with roots in an Irish cooperative and a German family-owned enterprise.

The repositioning comes at a time when Europe continues to prioritize energy security and domestic renewable generation. Against this backdrop, Perigus Energy aims to expand its project pipeline and contribute additional capacity across key markets.

Although the underlying acquisition by CIP is not new, the creation and naming of Perigus Energy marks the formal consolidation of the platform under a distinct corporate identity, signaling its next phase of growth in Europe’s onshore renewables sector.
