The LEGO Group, SEGA Reveal LEGO SEGA Genesis Set

The LEGO Group and SEGA expand their partnership with the launch of a new building set, LEGO SEGA: SEGA Genesis Console.

The 479-piece model pays homage to SEGA’s original console, an icon for gamers worldwide. With the highly detailed building set, collectors can customize their builds into either the SEGA Genesis or SEGA Genesis Mega Drive version. Alongside the console, the model includes two detachable controllers, a removable game card, and decorative stickers.

Alongside the console, builders will find nostalgia through the set’s Sonic the Hedgehog features. The Blue Blur appears inside the SEGA Genesis console and on a game cartridge inspired by Sonic the Hedgehog 2.

“Like many others from my generation, I still vividly remember when the SEGA Mega Drive launched — it felt completely out of this world,” says Patrik, Designer at The LEGO Group. “27 years later, the love for the console is still going strong — I still play mine! Recreating the intricate details and curves of the console with LEGO elements was an enjoyable challenge, despite its difficulty.”
