AMSTERDAM, N.Y. — Grow Amsterdam NY, in partnership with the Montgomery County Soil and Water Conservation District, invites community members to learn the basics of composting at home during an upcoming “Home Composting 101” workshop. Attendees will learn:

The difference between hot and cold composting   How to create a balanced compost “recipe” using green (nitrogen) and brown (carbon) materials  • The environmental and soil health benefits of compost   How to properly use finished compost in gardens and landscapes

A live demonstration compost pile will be built during the session, providing a step-by-step look at how simple and effective composting can be.
