airBaltic, the national airline of Latvia, is launching direct flights between Athens and Tallinn, Estonia, offering passengers more travel options to the Baltic countries throughout the summer season. The new route complements the company’s nearly 20-year presence connecting Athens with the capital of Latvia, Riga.
From April 29, 2026, the new route operates twice weekly — every Wednesday and Sunday — with a flight duration of approximately 3 hours and 45 minutes. It ensures direct and easy connectivity between the two capitals, using the modern Airbus A220-300 fleet, which is equipped with free internet.
The airline operates direct flights from five destinations in Greece and has, in total, nine routes connecting the country with the Baltic states: from Athens to Riga and Tallinn, from Corfu to Riga, from Rhodes to Riga and Tallinn, from Heraklion to all three Baltic capitals and from Thessaloniki to Riga. This network offers frequent, comfortable and fast connectivity between the two regions, providing passengers with a wide range of travel options.
Over the last 30 years, airBaltic has evolved into an internationally recognized air carrier. Today it connects the Baltic countries with 80 destinations in Europe and beyond, strengthening the international connectivity of the region.

Mantas Vrubliauskas, Vice President of Network Management at airBaltic, stated: “Greece is an important and growing market for airBaltic and the launch of our ninth direct route from the country — between Athens and Tallinn — further strengthens connectivity between Greece and the Baltic countries. This additional flight reflects the growing demand between the regions and offers customers greater flexibility when planning leisure trips, business travel or visits to relatives and friends.”
Ioanna Papadopoulou, Director of Communications & Marketing at Athens International Airport (AIA), stated: “The launch of the direct connection with the beautiful Tallinn gives us particular joy and constitutes an excellent addition to the Athens network, strengthening its connectivity and enriching travelers’ options with yet another destination in the Baltics.
We thank airBaltic for the ‘vote of confidence’ in the Athens market, we wish them safe and full flights and we continue our close cooperation aiming at the continuous growth of the airline in Athens.”
airBaltic is the largest airline in the Baltic countries, founded in 1995, and operates one of the youngest fleets in Europe, consisting of Airbus A220-300 aircraft. As a hybrid carrier, it combines the advantages of both traditional network airlines and low-cost carriers.
The company is majority-owned by the State of Latvia, which holds 88.37% of its voting rights, while Deutsche Lufthansa AG holds 10% and the remaining 1.63% belongs to private shareholders.
It is the first European airline to offer free high-speed internet through SpaceX Starlink on its flights.
