Prime Minister Narendra Modi has made a landmark arrival in Oslo, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to Norway in over four decades. Modi, currently on a four-nation European tour, arrived from Sweden, greeted warmly by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store and other top officials.
This historic visit aims to invigorate India-Norway relations, particularly in trade and technology sectors. Over the two-day period, Modi will meet with King Harald V and Queen Sonja, engage in bilateral talks, and focus on advancing cooperation between the two nations.
A key highlight of the visit is Modi’s participation in the India-Nordic Summit on Tuesday, attended by the prime ministers from Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, and Sweden. His address at the India-Norway Business and Research Summit is expected to further galvanize bilateral trade, which was valued at USD 2.73 billion in 2024.
