Afghan Voice Agency (AVA): Politico reported that Danish officials believe that US President Donald Trump, despite having spoken less about the issue of taking over Greenland recently, is still seeking to transfer sovereignty of the island to Washington.
Greenland has recently become a contentious issue between the United States and its European allies, with Trump eyeing the acquisition of Greenland and Denmark and European countries opposing these hostile US actions.
The region is under Danish sovereignty and, based on a defense agreement signed in 1951, the United States is committed to protecting the island against foreign threats.
It was previously reported that Trump is eyeing the natural resources and reserves available in Greenland.
