In 1986, the first BMW M3 with the factory code E30 went into production, which developed into an automotive icon thanks in no small part to its successes in touring car racing. For the 40th anniversary, the Speed Champions BMW M3 (77263) is being released at LEGO on August 1st. The set was listed today on Amazon with official images, and we’d like to give you a quick introduction to it in this post.
The LEGO BMW M3 consists of 358 pieces, including the obligatory minifigure, and features an unusually large number of printed elements. Based on the images, all the hood and roof tiles, the wheels, and several parts of the front and rear spoilers are printed, although naturally some stickers are still used as well.
The RRP is set at $29.99 / £22.99 / €27.99, which is the established price for the series this year.
The LEGO BMW M3 has a “special livery” that celebrates the 40th anniversary, both on the hood and the sides of the vehicle. A real car in this livery is also pictured on the back of the box, though I’m not familiar with its origin or purpose – perhaps some experts can help out in the comments? Fans of the M models will certainly be pleased with the matching minifigure torso, which is also adorned with the M logo.
This set represents, as far as we know, the last Speed Champions new release for 2026 to be revealed. Also releasing in August are the LEGO Jaguar Project 7 & Land Rover Defender (77264) as a dual pack, though the larger part of the wave with three additional sets is hitting the market in June.
