SAN GIOVANNI Galli barely had time to digest the disappointment of not making it to Serie A1 before they immediately decided to turn the page for the upcoming basketball season. Andrea Franchini’s interim on the bench has ended, and he will return to the bench. A new coach has arrived in San Giovanni, bearing the name Massimo RigaBorn in Rome in 1958, he represents a profile of absolute importance and is considered a true “master” of the women’s basketball Italian. Over the course of his prestigious career spanning over forty years, he has gained extensive experience on the benches of Serie A1 and Serie A2, leading historic clubs such as Partenio Avellino, Basket Ferrara, Reyer Venezia (with whom he won the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa in 2008), PB63 Battipaglia, Pallacanestro Torino, and Libertas Basket School Udine.

His resume is also enhanced by the great successes achieved in charge of the Italian youth national teams: as head coach, he won the silver medal at the European Under-20 Championships in 2013 and 2016, as well as the bronze medal in the 2014 edition. Coach Riga’s arrival at the PalaGalli is a strong signal of our club’s ambitions for the upcoming A2 championship. The management has identified him as the ideal figure to bring charisma, technical expertise, and a winning mentality, essential elements to launch a new two-year cycle.
