The Danish Ferry “Aura Seaways”, a Milestone in DFDS History » Puente de Mando

  • 2026-06-03

The Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI) has delivered the vessel “Aura Seaways” (IMO 9851036), contracted by the Danish company DFDS and flagged in Denmark. It is a remarkable ferry in its category, with a gross tonnage of 54,900 tons and a length of 230 m, a cargo capacity of 4,500 linear meters and 12,750 tons of deadweight, making it the highest capacity vessel of the mentioned company.

The new vessel meets the EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index) design standards, and the CO2 emissions per tow are slightly more than 20% lower than those of the vessels currently operating on the Karlshamn-Klaipeda and Kiel-Klaipeda routes, to which it will be assigned. It has accommodation for 690 passengers in 250 cabins, plus 62 crew members. The service speed is 23 knots.
