Maxima spokeswoman Snieguolė Valiavgaitė reported that the company called the police, who seized the cargo and handed it over to border guards. The chain also provided all necessary information for the investigation and cannot yet provide detailed comments.

According to border guards, the box contained 1400 packs of cigarettes and a GPS sensor.

According to a Delfi source, warehouse employees even detached the box from the weather balloon and tried to share the cigarettes among themselves, but a security guard prevented their actions. This information, however, has not been officially confirmed by either the police or Maxima.

Maxima company is still conducting an internal investigation into the incident.

On the night of January 27-28, radars recorded the most intense air attack in Lithuania — 42 marks in the sky. It was also then that, for the first time after an almost two-month break, the operation of Vilnius Airport was again disrupted.
